Wearing Lucky Red Today

Hoping against hope....I put on my Group 240 sweatshirt. It was purchased back in September 2005 when we were assigned a group by Children's Bridge after my file was sent to China.

Group 240 is a collection of people all seeking to adopt and whose files all were sent to China at the same timeby CB. CB usually sends a group of files every week to 10 days. They introduce the families grouped together and then the fun begins. As a group we are collected in the Greater Toronto and Southwestern Ontario area (8 families)and in the Greater Ottawa area (5 families.)

We meet virtually online more often then in person. But the idea of forming bonds as we move forward in our adoption journey, helps calm the questions, nerves, fears and panic that flood adoptive parents in waiting in waves that make us feel more like children playing at the beach than adults in semi-control of their lives.

Most likely one group member can be positive and cheerleading when 5 or six are down in the dumps...experienced one feeling or worry already on Monday when it hits another on Tuesday.

So back to the sweatshirt...it's red, cosy and has the Children's Bridge logo on one breast and the Canada flag on another shoulder. Back when we first organized their design, we put Group 240 - China 2006 on the sleeve...back in Sept. 2005 there was no way we weren't going to be hugging our babies by the end of 2006...

But international adoption is not for the faint of heart. Slow downs beyond my control and heartbreaking delays are nearly over...maybe today?? maybe Monday.

Did I tell you I also have ladybug earrings on too...surely that will tip fortune on my side today!

FINALLY Official Word

They changed the website at China Center for Adoption Affairs! To those not deeply immersed in international adoption...that means that the next batch (or Genevieve's referral!!!!) of referrals are winging their way towards families all over the globe!

Courier packages with photos, some bits and pieces of information about children and location of these adoptees are moving towards the various adoption agencies in Canada, US, Austrailia and Europe. 3-7 days of travel time is average with about 1/2 day of review time by the agencies once they are received.

Realistically if they were sent off on Halloween it would be Friday before my Children's Bridge agency would receive the packages and Monday before I can expect THE CALL.

I'' be on pins and needles until then. But since I've felt on pins and needles, head in the clouds for the last month...I'll be beyond logical thought and should stay away from operating motor vehicles and heavy machinery!

Cheers!
